FOR OUR PLASTIC MODELS: M49 ACETATE
So what exactly is acetate? It's a material made from 3/4 plant fibres (usually cotton), and 1/4 plasticisers. It's wonderful to work with thanks to its transparency and infinite colour possibilities. M49 is a bio-based and biodegradable cellulose acetate made from wood and a 68% natural origin plasticiser. This avoids excessive use of fossil fuels and water-intensive cultivation of cotton.
FOR OUR METAL MODELS: 88% RECYCLED STAINLESS STEEL
Stainless steel is known for its strength (which also allows us to offer flexible and light frames). Why not 100%? Because this would make our products too uncomfortable for users, and that would bother us. We've looked for the perfect balance between respect for the planet and respect for wearers.
FOR METAL NOSE PADS
These are the two little pieces near the bridge of your glasses... They're made by an Italian manufacturer specialising in MEM, a material that's certified phthalate-free, without hormone disrupting chemicals or the risk of allergic reactions.
FOR ENDTIPS
This is the end section of metal temples. We could also have called them chewtips, because we know how much some wearers like to chew them. But hey, we digress. In short, our endtips are made from organic acetate in Italy, 400 km from our premises.
FOR HINGES
These are made in Germany by a partner specializing in 75% recycled metal (stainless steel and nickel silver).
