Our products are sold through our optician partners.

We have great confidence in their expertise to advise you on the right model for your needs and your facial shape,

and to offer you the right lenses adapted to your vision.

Our frames aren't of course sold by every optician in France and beyond.

So to find your nearest partner optician of the BREF brand, click HERE !

In the Jura, the birthplace of French eyewear (oh yes!), and more precisely in Morbier (the town's inhabitants are known as Morberands, just so you know ;)).

The two founders of the group (OxibisGroup) were born and raised here, where our head office is located, and where our manufacturing partners are based.

We're super-proud of our town and region but appreciate the rest of the world too.

Our products are available from our optician partners throughout France and around the globe, and we've also set up shop in Germany, Spain and Switzerland, where our three main subsidiaries are located.

BREF :

Here we go! 'Bref' means 'brief' or 'in short' in English. We knew the name would raise questions ;) We explain it all HERE!

FRENCH ORIGIN GUARANTEED :

A label awarded following certification audits. The essential characteristics of a product must be created in France and between 50% and 100% of the unit cost price of the product must be acquired in France.

BIO-SOURCED :

A product obtained from renewable raw materials (which regenerate automatically in a fairly short cycle), derived from biomass (plants for example).

BIODEGRADABLE :

Material that can be transformed by the enzyme activity of micro-organisms, sunlight, and other physical agents. A material is said to be biodegradable if it achieves a 90% conversion rate in 6 months or less.

ECO-DESIGN:

This design method incorporates the environment in the design phase of a product and through every stage of its life cycle until it eventually disappears.

FOR OUR PLASTIC MODELS: M49 ACETATE

So what exactly is acetate? It's a material made from 3/4 plant fibres (usually cotton), and 1/4 plasticisers. It's wonderful to work with thanks to its transparency and infinite colour possibilities. M49 is a bio-based and biodegradable cellulose acetate made from wood and a 68% natural origin plasticiser. This avoids excessive use of fossil fuels and water-intensive cultivation of cotton.

FOR OUR METAL MODELS: 88% RECYCLED STAINLESS STEEL

Stainless steel is known for its strength (which also allows us to offer flexible and light frames). Why not 100%? Because this would make our products too uncomfortable for users, and that would bother us. We've looked for the perfect balance between respect for the planet and respect for wearers.

FOR METAL NOSE PADS

These are the two little pieces near the bridge of your glasses... They're made by an Italian manufacturer specialising in MEM, a material that's certified phthalate-free, without hormone disrupting chemicals or the risk of allergic reactions.

FOR ENDTIPS

This is the end section of metal temples. We could also have called them chewtips, because we know how much some wearers like to chew them. But hey, we digress. In short, our endtips are made from organic acetate in Italy, 400 km from our premises.

FOR HINGES

These are made in Germany by a partner specializing in 75% recycled metal (stainless steel and nickel silver).

Donate them of course!
